Do you do custom designs?
Yes, in fact, I love designing tattoos for my clients, ensuring they are symbolically one of a kind!
The best thing to do is to email me all of your ideas and visual references to - tattoosandfortune@gmail.com
Please do keep in mind that my expertise is a combination of Black and Grey Realism and Botanical Illustration, Blackwork (using black ink only to create bold line work mixed with dots and textures), Fine-line, Neo-Traditional, and American Traditional tattoo styles.
Do I need to have a consultation before my tattoo appointment?
Yes, most tattoos need to be pre-measured to fit your body correctly. At your consultation, we will also sketch out the design together and book you in for your tattoo appointment.
What references should I send, and how much info do you need?
Please be sure to send me as many references and specifics of your desired tattoo as possible. I ensure clear and detailed communication about your tattoo during your consultation in person or via email, so we are both on the same page.
Because I can spend anywhere between 2 - 20 hours on your design, small changes are ok on your appointment day as long as they still work with the composition of your design and don’t take more than 10 minutes to redraw. However, adding all new ideas or major composition changes to your tattoo would require another deposit and a new appointment.
Could you send me the Art before my appointment?
Art isn’t available until your scheduled appointment day. However, I make sure to provide a thorough and detailed consultation with you in person or via email before starting your design. It can be hard to clearly explain how things will fit and flow with your body when you only see a strangely sketched outline, which is just a guide for the artist and not what the tattoo will truly look like. This can cause unnecessary stress for both of us. Please check my Instagram @magdalenasky for my latest work, which will show you my artistic style and give you an idea of what your tattoo might look like.
How does an Appointment-Only Parlor operate?
Tattoos and Fortune is open for clients who have made appointments only. I do not take walk-ins, but I'd be happy to speak with you via email and arrange a consultation or appointment time. Being an appointment-only studio allows me to focus 100% on my client’s comfort and tattoo design.
Can I share my personal stories of past traumatic events with you?
I kindly ask my clients to refrain from sharing personal stories of past trauma with me. I am a very sensitive, empathetic person who finds it difficult to let go of others' sad stories at the end of the day, and sometimes I carry their sadness for weeks. This is exhausting and draining, and during your appointment, it can make it hard for me to focus on your tattoo and do my best work if my mind and emotions are preoccupied. If you're unsure, please feel free to ask if you can share. I will do the same. I love getting to know my clients and learning about their lives! Some stories are just a little harder to hear than others. Thank you for your understanding.
Do you fix Tattoos done by other Artists?
Yes,I do, if the tattoo can be fixed. My rate for this is $260 per hour + tax.
How should I prepare for my Tattoo Appointment?
It is vital to be well-rested and to have a good meal before your tattoo appointment. Wear comfortable and clean clothing. Please do not show up intoxicated, which includes being stoned. You will not be tattooed if you are intoxicated, and you will have to leave a new deposit for a new appointment. Please do not drink the night before or take aspirin, as this will thin your blood and make it harder for the ink to stay in your skin.
I’m running late...
If you arrive more than 15 minutes late for your appointment, you'll need to reschedule and pay a new deposit. Being late disrupts my schedule and affects other clients' appointments, and I want to take my time with each tattoo without time restrictions. Seattle always has traffic, so please leave your house early enough to relax, grab a coffee or snack, and arrive on time.
Can I bring my friends to take pictures or videos of my tattoo experience?
In general, I allow only 1 friend to accompany you to your appointment. Since my studio is a small, appointment-only parlor, I prefer to keep distractions to a minimum so my clients have my full attention, and we can work together to create a beautiful tattoo. I ask that friends wait in the designated area during the tattooing process. You are allowed to take one or two photos, but video recording or multiple photos of the studio are not permitted to avoid distractions. Please also refrain from letting your partner kiss, touch, or massage you, or try to explain my profession while you're getting tattooed. Thank you for understanding.
How do I take care of my new tattoo?
Aftercare instructions will always be provided after your appointment. Make sure to take a few days off if your job requires you to wear tight clothing that comes into direct contact with your tattoo. While the tattoo is healing, avoid wearing restrictive clothing or anything that will rub directly on the wound to prevent infection or poor healing of your new tattoo. Ultimately, how you look after your fresh tattoo once you leave the shop is up to you but remember that it is a fresh wound.
How much do your tattoos cost?
My hourly rate is $220 per hour +tax, and $260 per hour +tax for fixing existing tattoos from other artists. My shop minimum is $80 +tax, and I also require a deposit of $200 for ongoing pieces, $100 for medium to large pieces, and $50 for small ones. The deposit is non-refundable but will be deducted from the total cost of your final tattoo session. I require 72 hours cancellation notice for appointments if you want your deposit to be transferred to a new appointment date.
How many times can I postpone my tattoo appointment before losing my deposit?
Tattoo appointments can be postponed once before your deposit is lost, and a new deposit must be paid. Postponements must be requested at least 72 hours in advance to avoid losing your deposit.
Will I get a discount if I get multiple small tattoos in one sitting?
Small tattoos are charged as individual pieces (at a reasonable rate), not by time.
How much do your Tarot readings cost, and can I have a reading and a tattoo done at the same time?
Tarot Readings are $100 per hour and $60 for a half-hour session. Written correspondence readings are $120. I prefer to keep the Tarot and Tattoos separate so I can focus on your tattoo or reading completely. I do, however, make exceptions for travelers, doing readings on the same day as their tattoo.
What is your availability?
Please note I am an appointment-only studio, so I am not always there. Tattoo appointments are generally booked from 12 pm to 10 pm. My availability varies as I am also a full-time student. Please keep in mind, though, I am generally booked out roughly 4-6 weeks in advance.
Neurodivergence?
Absolutely! :) I am a proud advocate for the recognition and acceptance of neurodivergence in a predominantly neurotypical world. Sensory Processing Sensitivity is taken into consideration at Tattoos and Fortune for everyone’s comfort and experience. As are communication preferences.
Feel free to let me know in advance what your needs are and I will do my best to accommodate you.
